Julie Curtiss

Julie’s work explores surrealism and feminism in a modern setting. Hair is an important motif of art history, evolving from men’s fetish obsession, to women’s symbol of sexual liberty, and to contemporary women’s token of rejection of men’s objectification of women. In this work, Julie uses hair as materials to create sculpture that are meant to be edible vegetables, a subtle hint towards women’s responsibility in households and their desire to break away from societal limitations.
